The Best Drones for Under $1000
The best drones for under $1000. Quadcopter drone technology is one of the newest sectors out there and the technology is amazing. They have advanced to the point that you can just indicate where you want them to go and they just go. They come with high resolution cameras that can take amazing 4K ultra HD video and many can stay up for half an hour. The price tags have also expanded just as much. If you are a professional photographer you may be able to justify spending $5-$10,000 or even more. For the rest of us that just want to fly a drone around a bit and still take some great video we aren’t going to spend quite that much. I have assembled a short list of the best drones for under $1000 that i can find. I’m always looking so if i find any new ones that fit the bill i will add them later. Also i won’t be adding crap. I am doing my research and I’m only going to add drones that i think you’ll be satisfied with so the list may grow slowly over time. Prices are always subject to change so i won’t include prices either or i would have to be constantly be coming back and updating.
The DJI line of drones has some amazing technology. Its really exciting to see what they come out with next. The DJI Phantom 3 is the one that meets the criteria for this list. The DJI Phantom 3 Pro comes equipped with a 3 axis gimbal and a camera that takes 12 MP stills and 4K ultra HD video. The strength of this drone is its myriad of sensors that make flying simpler. Looking up it has dual GPS systems. It connects to the GPS satellites as well as the GLONASS system ensuring a quick and stable lock. Looking down it has optical and ultrasonic sonar sensors that enable stable low level flight and hovering. DJI’s Lightbridge system ensures that there will be zero lag time when flying in FPV mode and you can stream live video in 720p. As with all of these drones they offer accessories that can easily send you above the $1000 price target but you can get a great and easy to fly drone for under $1000.
The 3DR Solo drone from 3D Robotics wasn’t quite a shoe in for this list of best drones for under a grand. It is made to use the GoPro Hero3 or Hero4 cameras and the cost of a camera can easily put you over $1000. If you already have a camera, then the drone itself is can be had for under $1000.
Anybody that does much gaming will be right at home with the control unit for the 3DR Solo. The 3DR Solo has dual onboard computers that are designed to make operation foolproof. 3D Robotics advertises it as the smartest drone on the market. It has all the autonomous flight modes that all the higher end drones have and you can really tell that the 3DR Solo is intended primarily for aerial photography. The Solo is also intended to be upgraded over the years to come with better and better technology. Any complaint i have with the 3DR Solo is that they really seem to get you with the add-ons and you can spend a lot if you’re not careful. If you want a very good drone that can be upgraded and accessorized in the future then you should consider the 3DR Solo.
